About the OKlahoma BIOinformatics Society (OKBIOS)

 

Mission

The mission of OKBIOS is to

  • Foster networking and collaboration, and
  • Promote the professional development of the members.

We have a strong orientation toward supporting our student members

 

Geography

  • Membership and participation is open to all though we will focus our efforts on supporting our members in the state of Oklahoma.

Interested professionals from nearby states are invited to join.
 

Organization

 

OKBIOS is a membership organization dedicated to supporting local bioinformatics community. If you are interested in joining our society, please plan on attending the first annual  OKBIOS Symposium.

The First Annual OKBIOS Symposium was held on Friday November 12th, 2004 at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma at the brand new Stephenson Research and Technology Center. For more information - click here

 

The Second Annual OKBIOS Symposium was held on Friday October 28th, 2005 at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. For more information - click here
 
OKBIOS will be adopting bylaws for the society's organization during upcoming meeting. Proposed bylaws will be posted on the society's website sometime in the next few months.

 

Affiliations

 

OKBIOS is a local chapter of Mid-South Computational Biology and Bioinformatics Society MCBIOS

 

and it has recently recieved a "Regional Affiliate" status with the International Society for Computational Biology.
